According to the latest data released by Alphaliner, as of October 6th, there were a total of 6712 container ships in operation worldwide, with a total capacity of 2.7894 million TEUs, equivalent to approximately 333 million deadweight tons. The top three liner companies account for 46.64% of the global market's total transportation capacity.

The top three global shipping companies in terms of transportation capacity are Mediterranean Shipping (5.3943 million TEUs, 19.34%), Maersk Shipping (4.1289 million TEUs, 14.80%), and Delta Shipping (3.4881 million TEUs, 12.50%).


Alphaliner pointed out that the fourth and tenth place in terms of transportation capacity are: COSCO Shipping Group, Herbrot, Ocean Network Shipping (ONE), Evergreen Shipping, Modern Merchant Shipping, Yangming Shipping, and Yixing Shipping. Among them, the top 7 have transportation capacity exceeding 1.5 million TEUs.

Ranked 11th to 20th, they are Wanhai Shipping, Taiping Shipping, Haifeng International, KMTC, X-Press Feeders Group, IRISL, UniFeeder, Zhonggu Shipping, Changjin Merchant Shipping, and Sea Lead Shipping.
